Army of the Dead: Prequel

Final Name: In an interview with producer Deborah Snyder, it was referred to as “Army of Thieves.” This was confirmed later by Zack Snyder.

Release Date: In an interview with Deborah Snyder on The Hollywood Reporter (May 12, 2021), she said the following:

“I don’t know when [the prequel] is coming out either, but we are in post and we are getting pretty close. We have some work to do that will continue into the summer, but what’s interesting about that film is it takes place in our world. The zombie pandemic is happening in America, and it’s causing instability in the banking and financial institutions so they are consolidating some of the money and this team goes together. It’s a heist movie, with very few zombies in it. It’s really a romantic comedy, heist movie, which is super fun.”

Director: Matthias Schweighöfer

The plot centers around the backstory of Ludwig Dieter, the German safe expert that is called on later to help open the casino vault in Army of the Dead.

Netflix’s website describes the plot: “In this prequel to “Army of the Dead,” a mysterious woman recruits bank teller Dieter to assist in a heist of impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.
